How do I add or remove bank accounts?
To add new bank accounts in Prosaic, the process is fairly simple.
Step 1 — Sign in to Prosaic
Log in to Prosaic using the email address of the person authorised on the bank accounts.
Step 2 — Open your bank connections
From the Bank connections section on the dashboard:
- Click Manage to change accounts within an existing bank connection.
- Click Add bank account to connect another bank or banking login.
You’ll be securely redirected to Akahu, Prosaic’s open banking provider.

Step 3 — Select the bank connection you want to update
Akahu will display the banks currently connected to Prosaic, along with the number of accounts connected through each one.
Click the bank you want to update, such as ANZ, BNZ or Westpac.
Only select + Add another connection if you need to add accounts from a bank you're not already connected with

Step 4 — Add or remove accounts
On the bank connection page, click Add or remove accounts.
You may be asked to sign in to your internet banking and approve access again. Select every account from that banking login that you want connected to Prosaic.

⚠️ Important
When updating a connection, select all accounts you want to keep connected, including those already in Prosaic.
For example, if three ANZ accounts are already connected and you want to add a fourth, select all four accounts. Leaving an existing account unticked may remove it from the connection.
Or if you have 3 account connected and need to remove one, select the 2 you wish to keep connected only
🟡 Important — Migrate older Akahu connections first
Before reconnecting or adding accounts, first check whether any existing bank connections show:

“Switch to connection for...”
If this option appears, complete the migration before reviewing or adding accounts.
Migrating will:
- preserve your existing transaction history in Prosaic
- continue syncing new transactions from the current point forward
- avoid duplicate bank accounts being created
⚠️ Do not delete and reconnect older “classic” connections unless absolutely necessary.
If you remove and re-add these accounts manually instead of migrating, Prosaic may import the same accounts again as duplicates.
Step 5 — Save your connections
After reviewing your accounts:
- Return to the Akahu connections screen.
- Click Save connections.
- Follow the prompts to return to Prosaic.
Your changes may not be completed until you save the connections and return to the Prosaic dashboard.

Important: Your bank accounts will not reconnect properly unless you press Continue and return to the Prosaic client dashboard
If you need to add more connections, you can choose to Review Prosaic Connections, then add more accounts from the Akahu dashboard. But you will need to return to Prosaic using Confirm Connections if you wish to complete setup
Adding accounts from another bank or login
Click Add another connection when you want to:
- connect accounts from a different bank; or
- connect accounts accessed through another internet banking login.
For example, use this option when ANZ is already connected but you also want to add Westpac, or when separate ANZ accounts are accessed using a different login.
Reconnecting a disconnected bank feed
When a connection requires attention, Prosaic will show a Disconnected status and a Reconnect button.
Click Reconnect, follow the Akahu prompts, select all accounts that should remain connected, then save the connection and return to Prosaic.
