Why are shareholder current accounts not appearing in reports?
If your Shareholder Current Account report is showing no accounts (even though there are transactions in drawings or funds introduced), this is usually due to how the report filters accounts based on the entity type and chart structure.
What’s happening?
The report behaves differently depending on the entity:
- Company entities → Uses Shareholder Current Accounts
- Individual / sole trader entities → Uses Equity accounts (e.g. Owner Drawings, Funds Introduced)
If your entity is set as a company, but transactions are coded to: - Owner Drawings
- Owner Funds Introduced
These are equity accounts, so they won’t appear in the Shareholder Current Account report.
How do I fix it?
You have a few options depending on your setup:
1. Recode to shareholder accounts (recommended for companies)
Move transactions to a Shareholder Current Account so they appear in the report.
2. Update your chart template
Ensure your chart includes Shareholder Current Accounts, and use these going forward.
3. Change the entity type
If the entity is actually a sole trader / individual, update the entity type.
The report will then use equity accounts, including drawings and funds introduced.
4. Continue using equity accounts
You can keep using Owner Drawings / Funds Introduced.
These will still appear in financial reports (e.g. Balance Sheet), but not in the Shareholder Current Account report.
Key takeaway
The report isn’t missing data — it’s filtering based on: - Entity type
- Account type (equity vs shareholder)
Example
If a company entity has transactions coded to Owner Drawings / Funds Introduced,
the Shareholder Current Account report will appear empty, even though transactions exist.
