How do I switch to official open banking connections

Prosaic now supports Official Open Banking connections through our partner Akahu for ANZ, ASB, BNZ and Westpac.

Official Open Banking connections are more secure, easier to maintain, and approved directly through your banking app — without sharing passwords.

⚠️ Important for existing users

If you already have bank feeds connected in Prosaic, you should carefully follow the migration steps below and use Switch to Official Connection tool in Akahu when available.

Migrating preserves your existing transaction history, keeps your bank accounts linked correctly, and avoids duplicate bank accounts or duplicate transactions being created.

Do not disconnect and manually re-add older “classic” Akahu connections unless instructed by the Prosaic team.

The migration should be completed by someone authorised on the bank accounts, using the same Prosaic login/email address originally used to connect the bank feeds.

Check by signing into Prosaic and looking for a message like the one below on your dashboard

Or like this one when you sign into Akahu

Step-by-step — Migrating to Official Open Banking

Step 1 — Sign in to Prosaic

Log into Prosaic using the email address of the person authorised on the bank accounts.

Step 2 — Click “Manage Bank Accounts” or "Add Bank Account"

From the Prosaic dashboard, click:

Manage Bank Account

You’ll be redirected to Akahu, sign in using the same email address, or if you use a different email with Akahu, use this.

Step 3 — Look for “Switch to Official Open Banking”

If your existing bank feeds are eligible for migration, Akahu will show:

Switch to Official Open Banking

⚠️ This is the option you should use.

Do not delete your existing bank connection, or add new connections unless advised by the Prosaic help team

Step 4 — Complete the migration with your bank

Follow the prompts from your bank.

This usually involves:

  • signing into internet banking
  • approving the connection in your banking app
  • selecting the accounts you want connected

⚠️ Important:

Select all accounts you want to remain connected.

If you leave previously connected accounts unticked, they may disconnect.

Step 5 — Click “Confirm Connections” (Very Important)

Once migration is complete, click:

Confirm Connections

This returns you to the Prosaic dashboard and finalises the migration.

⚠️ Your migration may not complete correctly unless you press Confirm Connections and return to Prosaic.

What if I need to add new bank accounts?

After migration is complete, you can:

  • reconnect inactive accounts
  • review existing connections
  • add additional banks
  • add accounts from separate banking logins

If adding more accounts under the same bank login, use the bank’s existing connection and review all accounts carefully.

Always re-select all existing accounts you still want connected.

What does Official Open Banking approval look like?

When migrating:

  1. You’ll be redirected to your bank
  2. You’ll approve access in your banking app
  3. Akahu securely retrieves the approved account details
  4. Your accounts reconnect in Prosaic using Official Open Banking

No passwords are shared with Prosaic or Akahu.
