How do I switch to official open banking connections

Prosaic now supports official Open Banking connections through our partner Akahu for the four main New Zealand banks. This makes connecting and maintaining bank feeds more secure and easier for clients.

What’s changed?

  • New clients

New clients will automatically be taken through the official Open Banking flow when they connect their bank accounts during onboarding.

  • Existing clients

Existing bank connections can be easily migrated to the new official Open Banking connections.

  • More secure

There’s no password sharing. Bank access is approved directly in the client’s banking app (similar to approving an online EFTPOS payment).

How to connect or migrate bank accounts

Who can connect bank accounts?

The person connecting the bank accounts must be the client (or anyone authorised on the bank accounts).

Log into https://beta.prosaic.works/ using the email address of the user who has access to the bank accounts.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to Prosaic using the email address of the person authorised on the bank accounts
  2. Go to Add bank account
  3. You’ll be redirected to Akahu

    Choose to either:

    • Add a new connection, or
    • Migrate an existing connection to the official Open Banking version
  4. Follow the prompts to sign in with your bank
  5. Approve the connection in your banking app (e.g. BNZ, ANZ)

Once approved, your bank accounts will appear in Prosaic using the official Open Banking connection.

What does approval look like?

When connecting or migrating an account:

  • You’ll be redirected to your bank’s login
  • You’ll approve the connection in your banking app
  • Akahu will retrieve the account details
  • Your accounts will appear in Prosaic using the official Open Banking connection
