Bank Rec & Bulk Cash Coding

Bulk coding in Prosaic is designed to help accountants and bookkeepers process transactions quickly and accurately. Our transaction screen combines the best of traditional bank reconciliation with cash coding, enhanced by AI-powered suggestions and memory.

Accessing the Transaction Screen

The transaction screen lists all transactions across your client entities.
To work with a specific entity, use the filters or click directly on the unreconciled transaction count from the dashboard or entity screen.

Coding Individual Transactions

Select the account, GST rate, and click Reconcile.
Prosaic’s AI will provide a suggested code when it recognises a transaction.
Each suggestion includes a confidence score, so you can decide whether to accept or override it.

💡 Tip: Always review AI suggestions before reconciling the first time.

Bulk Coding with AI and Memory

When you reconcile a transaction:

Prosaic looks for similar transactions in the background.
Suggested matches appear, which you can review and reconcile in bulk.
Each reconciliation builds memory, so future transactions will be coded with higher confidence.

You can also filter by confidence level:

High confidence → transactions likely ready for bulk reconciliation.
Medium confidence → worth reviewing in groups.
Needs attention → transactions without strong AI matches.

Cash Coding Experience

For those familiar with Xero’s Cash Coding:

You can sort or search by name (e.g. “Insurance”).
Select transactions using checkboxes or the Command+A shortcut.
Accept the AI’s coding suggestions in bulk, or override with your own account/GST selections.

This makes it easy to sweep through similar transactions quickly.

Splitting Transactions

Any transaction can be split across multiple accounts or GST rates.
Prosaic remembers these splits, and will suggest them in future.
Soon you’ll be able to apply bulk splits (e.g. splitting all entertainment transactions 50/50).

Reviewing and Reversing

Use the Reconciled view to see all transactions you’ve coded.
You can reverse or redo any reconciliations.
Upcoming features will include box-select reversal and re-coding directly from the reconciled screen.
